The project will see exploration of a new area in Lake Albert area in North West Uganda. Block 5 covers an area of approximately 6,000 sq km. The area is onshore covering the northern part of the East African Rift Valley, located North West of Uganda at the northern end of the Albertine Graben. The exploration objectives are in the acreage to the south. The Tertiary rift sediments have been found to be oil and gas bearing and with the area being fairly flat savannah terrain, exploration activity should be relatively straight forward. Block 5 lies immediately north of Heritage Oil\'s Block 1 where some major oil discoveries - Buffalo-Giraffeq and Warthog - have recently been made in the Victoria Nile delta play, part of the Lake Albert rift basin.
