Project Profile

Value: US$2,500 million
Location: southeast of Lagos, Nigeria
Pipeline length: 115 km (EGP3B)
Startup Year: 2010

The project includes a new gas gathering and compression platform, (GGCP) comprising 500-tonne topsides (which includes a 12-slot bay, quarters and other associated systems), one new non-associated gas production platform (NPP) comprising 500-tonne topsides with four separate well jackets, low pressure gas gathering pipeline system to the new GGCP tie-in of new pipelines to six existing production platforms and related platform modifications, new high pressure gas transmission pipelines to shore, new high pressure gas injection pipeline from shore (totalling 125 km, 18\"-30\"), new product export pipelines from shore and a new SPM buoy/pipeline end manifold. Nine platforms will be in 7 metres of water.

The Escravos Gas Project Phase 3B (EGP3B), is part of Chevron Nigeria Limited’s two phase Western Delta Gas Development Programme. The objective is the reliable and economic supply of gas to onshore processing facilities and the reduction of the amount of gas currently being flared as a by-product of crude oil production.

The EGP3B project will gather Offshore Associated Gas (AG) from six production platforms, four in the North Offshore Area and two in the South offshore area. The gathered gas is intended to be routed to a new platform MEREN GGCP (Gas Gathering and Compression Platform) where it will be compressed and delivered to a subsea tie-in point on the EGP3A OKAN pipeline to the onshore facilities.

The project includes installation of 115 km of large diameter, thin walled, concrete weight coated steel subsea pipelines and installation of 9 risers, including 3 large diameter launched risers on heavily congested shallow water brown-field platforms.
