Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (SSLPC) is planning an expansion to produce isobutylene at its integrated refining and petrochemical complex located in Bohai Industrial Park, in Shouguang City, Shandong Province, China. The new unit is scheduled for start-up in 2016. SSLPC’s complex includes a 2.6 million-tpy microsecond catalytic cracking plant, a 1.6 million-tpy unit to convert LPG to aromatics, a 600,000-tpy gas separation plant, a 200,000-tpy polypropylene plant, a 100,000-tpy MTBE plant, and a 50,000-tpy sulfur recovery unit.

Contractors:
UOP LLC (Honeywell’s subsidiary): Contract to supply its C4 Olefex processing technology to be used for a new unit at the complex that will be able to produce 170,000-tonnes/year (tpy) of isobutylene. UOP’s scope of work includes engineering, design, technology licensing, as well as providing catalysts, adsorbents, equipment, staff training, and technical service for the project.
