Location: Chongqing Municipality, southwestern China
Production: 6 bcm per year (2017)

The shale gas demonstration area has 21 wells. The work signifies an “earlier-than-expected entry” into a large-scale development phase. The field has reserves of 2.1 trillion cubic metres located at depths less than 4,500 m.
The first phase of Fuling shale gas field in Chongqing went into production in 2015. In 2016, Sinopec added 1.73 bcm of new production capacity, bringing Fuling’s total to 7 bcm. Output, however, only reached 5 bcm.
Fuling shale gas field’s second phase is expected to be completed in 2017 taking the annual production capacity to 10 bcm. 
Sinopec aims to produce 10 bcm of shale gas by 2020 from the field. The company’s target is to have production capacity of 15 bcm per year by 2020.

Contractors:
OriginClear: Signed a sales license agreement with Shandong Tong Heng Environmental Technologies (SDTH) for the use of OriginClear's Electro Water Separation (EWS) technology at a pilot remediation project at Fuling.
Sinopec Huadong Oil and Gas: Drilled and completed four wells at Fuling’s Nanchuan Block. Each well flowed at more than 200,000 cubic metres per day during testing.
