OMV has found gas and condensate at Mehar block in district Dadu, onshore Pakistan with the Sofiya 2 exploration well. On testing the well flowed at a gross rate of 4,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day from the Ranikot formation. The output is estimated up to 18 million standard cubic feet of gas and 1550 barrels of condensate. The Sindh province well was drilled about 10 kilometres north of the Mehar gas and condensate field, where OMV is building a gas processing plant. The explorer stressed further appraisal would be required to determine the extent of the discovery. The Sofiya gas and condensate field is located north of the Mehar gas field in the Mehar block, Pakistan.
