Wolf Petroleum has been awarded a production sharing contract in eastern Mongolia. Wolf signed the PSC for Sukhbaatar Block 27 with the Petroleum Authority of Mongolia. The PSC covers a five-year exploration period, and carries two possible two-year extensions and further five-year extension, subject to government approval, and up to over 35 years of production are possible under the contract. A geological and geophysical crew of up to 45 people were assigned to work on the block.
Historical gravity surveys over Sukhbaatar Block 27 indicate the presence of a large sub-basin with a thickness of up to 3,000 metres, with Wolf adding a potential petroleum source kitchen had been identified within the block. Sukhbaatar Block 27 covers 23,047 square kilometres and is adjacent to Wolf’s existing BU Block and takes the company’s total acreage position in Mongolia to over 74,400 square kilometres.
