The G3/48 concession was wholly owned by Northern Gulf Oil after the firm exercised its pre-emption rights over former operator Mubadala Petroleum\'s planned sale to Singaporean explorer Kris Energy. Northern Gulf Oil is 75% owned by Tap Oil. In July 2016, Tap Oil relinquished its G3/48 participating interest after disappointing exploration results.
The Pathum-1 exploration well was drilled in shallow water by the jack-up ENSCO in December 2012 and tested petroleum potential of the fluvial section in the southern Sattakut Basin.
