This block is located on the West coast of India, off Goa coast, at water depths varying from 400m to 2,000m. Tata Petroleum has a participating interest of 15% in the Block. ONGC is the Operator of the Block with 45% participating interest. Cairn Energy the other partner has 40% participating interest.
The block has initial exploration period of five years commencing from 2007. The minimum work programme was initially for conducting a seismic survey to determine possibility of hydrocarbon existence. Reserve estimates if any will be possible only after analysis of results of this survey. Analysis of 1,220 km old 2D seismic data has been completed inhouse by the Operator, ONGC. 3,500 km of new 2D seismic data was acquired in May 2008.
The newly acquired 2D seismic & Gravity Magnetic data has been processed and interpreted. Based on the outcome, 300 km2 of 3D seismic data was acquired in FY 2010-11 processing and interpretation of the 3D seismic data is in progress. The minimum work programme commitment under Phase-I exploration is completed.
