Project Profile
Value: Undisclosed
Location: Offshore Burma
Area: 6,207 square kilometres
Start-up Year: 2018
Block M3 PSC was signed on August 7, 2004. Pre-front end engineering and design studies are in full swing for the proposed M3 gas project off Burma where operator PTTEP is warming up for a two-well appraisal campaign.
In 2011, ongoing conducting of 3D seismic acquisition of 1,000 square kilometre, in block M3, took place. MOGE approved Production Sharing Contract of block M3\'s retention period up to 7 years for commercialisation of natural gas. However, the retention period will be granted on a yearly basis. In the first quarter of 2012 3d seismic acquisition was completed by PTTEP covering 606 sq km.
WorleyParsons was awarded the pre-FEED work in 2012. Its workscope covers conceptual studies followed by basic engineering up until the end of 2012. It is widely tipped that M3 will be a standalone development with a shallow-water fixed platform connected via a subsea pipeline to shore.
Only one well has been drilled so far in M3, and that was the Aung Sinkha-2 discovery, which flowed at rates of 25 million cubic feet per day and 150 barrels per day of condensate. It was drilled using the jack-up West Juno.
