Project Profile
Value: US$142 million
Location: Nawabshah district, Sindh province, Pakistan
Production: 5,700 barrels of oil equivalent (60mmcf of gas) per day
Reserves: Unknown
Start-up Year: 2014
Latif Gas Field was discovered in 2007 through exploratory well Latif-1. Later, two appraisal wells Latif-2 & 4 and second exploratory well Latif North-1 were drilled. The field was declared as commercial discovery in June 2012 following the approval of Field Development Plan (FDP) by the Government of Pakistan. After declaration of commerciality, Latif-7, 6, 5, 9, 10, 13 & 14 were drilled and completed.
Currently, Latif North-1 is producing, whereas Latif-1 & 2 are shut-in and Latif-4 is abandoned. Gas produced from Latif is being processed at Kadanwari/ Miano Gas Plant.
However, as per the FDP, Latif wells will be tied-in to Sawan Gas Plant for processing the raw gas. OMV (PAKISTAN) Exploration GmbH is the operator of Latif concession and holds a 33.34% interest. The other partners in the joint venture are Eni (33.33% interest) and Pakistan Petroleum (33.33% interest). OMV is targeting a net production of 5,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day from Latif in 2014 thereby delivering on a key initiative under the group-wide performance program \"energize OMV\". Total investment in the project is estimated at US$142 million. The development includes drilling of new wells and construction of a 50km pipeline to connect Latif field with the Sawan processing plant.
