Sainampueng, which is located in the Gulf of Thailand in Block G2/48, has the potential to hold up to 10 MMstb with a high side of up to 27 MMstb (P10). Block G2/48 contains the Rayong basin which has only had two wells drilled in it, both of which exhibited hydrocarbon shows.
A 3D seismic survey, which was carried out in late 2011, targeted the southern Rayon Graben. Results from the survey identified 23 prospects and leads in multiple play types at a number of target levels with a cumulative unrisked mean prospective recoverable oil resource potential of more than 100 MMstb.
Block G2/48 covers a 9,449 square kilometre area in shallow waters in the Gulf of Thailand, central to an emerging oil province int he Rayong Basin. The primary exploration targets in the Rayong Basin are Oligo-Miocene clastics analogous to the adjacent proven Kra Basin.
Partners in the G2/48 concession are Pearl Oil as operator with 50% and MEO Australia\'s subsidary, Rayong Offshore Exploration Limited with the remaining 50%.
