The Second Shanjing Gas Pipeline Project is a pipeline project This pipeline is being constructed in order to meet Beijing’s fast growing demand for natural gas. It stretches 860 km from the Shanxi Gas Project to Tianjin and Beijing. The new pipeline supplied a total of 924 MMcm of gas to Beijing in 2005, 2.99 Bcm in 2008, and 5.79 Bcm in 2014. The pipeline has a planned diameter of 40 inches. The pipeline is located in China.
On February 27, 2008, Converteam was awarded an order for the Xinxian station, one of the compression stations of the Shanjing II Pipeline Project in China managed by Huayou Gas Transport Company. Converteam\'s scope of supply included 3 sets of Variable Speed Drive Systems to run 3 compression trains. Each set mainly consisted of isolation transformers, LCI drives, 17.2MW synchronous motors, harmonic filters, MV switchgear, LV distribution panels & coolers. Siemens Energy received an order from China Petroleum Material and Equipment Corporation for the delivery of 8 Variable Speed Drive (VSD) Systems for the extension of the Shanjing II natural gas pipeline in China. The Siemens VSD systems was installed in three pipeline compressor stations, and will start operating in fall 2009. Siemens supplied 5 complete VSD systems with a capacity of 20 megawatts (MW), and 3 VSD systems with 15 MW each. The scope of the order included all ancillaries as cooling systems, control systems and filter equipment. This was already the second order for VSD systems of this type Siemens has received from China Petroleum Material and Equipment Corporation (CPTDC).
