Tal block is located in the Kohat Plateau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. So far, six discoveries have been made in the block, the first in 2002 and the most recent in 2011. Commercial production has commenced from the Manzalai and Makori fields. Mamikhel and Maramzai discoveries are currently being evaluated through Extended Well Testing (EWT). Makori Field was discovered in 2004 after the drilling of an exploratory well on the Makori structure. Early production commenced from the field in January 2006. Extended Well Test (EWT) of the discovery well Makori-1 has been completed. Two more wells, Makori-2 and 3, were drilled. Makori-2 proved to be dry while Makori-3 was put on production in June 2010 through the Makori Early Production Facility. The well is currently contributing about 23.3 MMscfd gas and 1,545 bpd condensate. Workover/ sidetrack of Makori-1 is planned during the year 2012-13 with the objectives to shutoff the water production. Drilling of a development well and construction of 150 MMscfd gas processing facility are expected to be completed by May 2013 and October 2013, respectively. Field development plan for Makori has been submitted to the government in March 2010. The operator of the field is MOL with partners including PPL, OGDCL, GHPL and POL.
Current Exploration
The Tolanj West-1 exploratory well is located in the Tolanj field within the TAL block. It reached TD4,941 metres, upon testing the well flowed gas at a rate of 2,300 boepd (13.1 mmscf/d). The exploration success complements the Tolanj-X-1 gas discovery from 2011 in the same field. The Tolanj-X-1 well had a gas flow rate of 2.900 boepd (16.3 mmscf/d) when the original discovery was made. (June, 2016)
