Project Profile

Location: Tal Block, Kohat Plateau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Production: 224.1 MMscf gas and 3,800 bbl condensate
Discovery: 2002

Tal block is located in the Kohat Plateau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. So far, six discoveries have been made in the block, the first in 2002 and the most recent in 2011. Commercial production has commenced from the Manzalai and Makori fields. Mamikhel and Maramzai discoveries are currently being evaluated through Extended Well Testing (EWT). Manzalai Gas Field hosts one exploratory, one appraisal and seven development wells. The first discovery was made at Manzalai-1 exploratory well in December 2002. Government of Pakistan granted Development & Production Lease over Manzalai structure (382.89 sq KM) on January 11, 2007 for a period of 25 years while application for D & P. The discovery of Manzalai in 2002 marked the start of oil and gas exploration in the south-west of the Kohat Basin. The field is developed in three phases.

During the first phase, the field was evaluated for its commercial viability by conducting Extended Well Test (EWT). A central processing facility with a capacity of 300 MMscfd gas was constructed during the second phase. Currently, the field’s average daily production of 224.1 MMscf gas and 3,800 bbl condensate is processed through this facility and the plant installed earlier at Gurguri. Additional wells will be drilled and compression facilities will be installed during the third phase of the development.

MOL Pakistan has extensive production facilities for processing of oil and gas produced from its Manzalai, Makori, Mamikhel and Maramzai fields. Manzalai Gas Plant at Gurguri commissioned in January 2005, has the capacity to process 50 MMscfd gas and 500 bbl/d of condensate. Most of the production from the Manzalai as well as from Mamikhel and Maramzai fields is being processed through Central Processing Facilities (CPF) in Manzalai Development & Production Lease area. These modern facilities for processing are equipped and designed to handle 300 MMscfd of Gas and 6,600 of hydrocarbon liquids(though installed capacity is also being successfully tested to produce at 7,150 bbdl/d). MOL Pakistan commissioned its production from these facilities in October 2009. The operator of the field is MOL with partners including PPL, OGDCL, GHPL and POL.
