Project Profile

Estimated Value: US$1.2bn
Start Up Year: 2015
Location: Southern Sahara, 1,200 km south of Algiers
Capacity: 400 million Cubic feet a day

The In Salah Gas (ISG) project covers the development of four gas fields in the southern Sahara, 1,200 km south of Algiers. The capacity of the processing facility will be about 400 million cubic feet a day.

ISG, which has been on-stream since July 2004, produces approximately nine billion cubic metres of gas per year from three northern fields. It is also the world\'s first full-scale carbon dioxide capture project located at an onshore gas field.

The In Salah Southern Gas Fields Development Project which is the second phase of the ISG development, is intended to maintain gas production at plateau levels when production from the three northern fields begin to decrease. The project entails the development of the four fields to the south of the current development, Garet el Befinat, Hassi Moumene, In Salah and Gour Mahmoud, located around the town of In Salah in the Walia of Tamanrasset.

About 9 billion cubic metres of gas is produced at In Salah annually and this capacity of the facility is projected to be sustained until the expiry of the concession in 2022. The project includes a new central production and gas gathering facility at In Salah which includes two dehydration trains, with the capacity to produce approximately 16.8 million cubic metres of gas per day, associated permanent camps, and approximately 300km of pipelines for gas collection from the in-field wells and export to the existing Krechba facility.

Brownfield modifications will also be made at the existing Reg facilities with an additional dehydration train as well as modifications for future operation of the compression facilities. The existing Teg and Krechba compression facilities will also be upgraded for future operations.
